The Simpson Strong-Tie Strong-Drive SCN Smooth-Shank Connector nail is a structural-connector nail built for installing metal connectors on the jobsite. It is part of the Strong-Drive SCN line, which comes in several sizes and hot-dip galvanized coatings to suit a wide range of connector applications, whether the work is interior or exterior, in dry-service conditions or in more corrosive environments.
This nail measures 3 in. long with a 0.148 in. shank diameter and a 0.310 in. full round head. The head carries an ID stamp, so the nail size is easy to identify at a glance, both during installation and afterward when the work is being checked.
The smooth shank drives into wood members with less effort and reduces splitting, which helps installation go faster and protects the lumber around the connector.
For corrosion protection, the nail has a hot-dip galvanized Class D coating that meets the requirements of ASTM A153, Class D, and provides a medium level of corrosion resistance. Hot-dip galvanized SCN nails are compatible with Simpson Strong-Tie ZMAX® connectors, making them a natural match when a project calls for ZMAX hardware.
The nail complies with ASTM F1667 for metal hardware nails. Each package contains 250 nails.
