Simpson Strong-Tie® CPTZ Concealed Post Base for 8x8 Posts – ZMAX® Galvanized
The CPTZ post base combines a knife plate with a standoff base to give a clean, concealed connection between a wood post and concrete. With the knife plate hidden inside the post, the hardware stays out of sight while the post is held 1 in. above the concrete.
That 1 in. standoff is code-required when supporting permanent structures that are exposed to weather or water splash, or located in basements. It also reduces the potential for decay at the end of the post or column.
Anchorage is flexible: the CPTZ can be set on cast-in-place anchors or retrofitted to existing concrete with adhesive or mechanical anchors. The post attaches with the supplied 1/2 in. diameter galvanized pins.
This model fits nominal 8x8 posts. The base is 12-gauge steel and the knife plate is 10-gauge steel, both with a ZMAX® galvanized finish that offers extra corrosion resistance for exterior and treated-wood applications.
